Mexico my new home.

 

 

Mexico is a beautifull place full with culture and history. I´m goint to start with the festive days. My favorite holiday here in Mexico is the Day of the Dead. I absolutly love this holiday, everything about it scream MEXICO to me.

 

What is the Day of the Dead?

The day of the dead is a day dedicated to all of the loved ones tht are no longer with us. It is a day where Mexican familys gather at the gravesite of their decease, and celebrate their life. Yes, i said celebrate, now this is why i love this contry. This day is ment not to cry but to remeber all of the amazing and fun times that we spent with our loved ones.

 

Now there are many things that Mexicans do on this day. It is known for the Altars. An altar is a step by step gate way to the other side, the alters where fisrt created by the aztecas, the believes that the altars would help fallen worriors get to the other side where they would be welcomed has héroes.

 

The altars are always different, but the should at least have the following elements:

3 to 7 levels or steps: These levels are the diferent types of goals that the soul of the decease had to go through, the altars that have 7 steps where considered by the aztects to be the 7 chalanges that that had to be won in order to have eternal peace.

Favorite food of the family member that passed: This is for the soul to have a full stomach before he starts his journey, This element of the altar should be located at the first step.

Clean clothes, socks and a pair of shoes: This is so the soul can have a fresh start, it should also be located at the first step of the altar along with a large bowl, with wáter and the family members higene ítems. Also for the same perpose other two mentioned before.

Black dog and light elements: these two ítems help guid the soul to the other side, or to eternal life.

 

 

One other thing that i think is super cool about this holiday is that it is always a super big deal in cumunities. Last year in my High school in Puerto Peñasco, we had a dead of the dead celebration and we dedicated out altar to a very close friend of mine that I considered a father. He was the father of my best friend at the time. He had just passed away the 2 of October of last year. He was a very well known doctor in Puerto Peñasco and people from Caborca and even Hermosillo went to see our altar, i was the one who gave the speach about his life and all of his acomplishments. We where gifted with the presents of the Doctors ashes and we gave him his last deploma. We won the compition and we celebrated in he name, we made a beef stew which was his favorite food and we sang his favorite songs.

 

I love this holiday because it is a happy day although we are celebrating something trajic.

 

I honestly cant find anything wrong with mexico, i find it to be a beautifull place and i am honered to call it my home, i strongly believe that people that have the oportunity to live in Mexico, Should take advantage of the oportunity. Mexico will change the way you look at the world and you will appreciate things diferently. Come visit Mexico. I dare you.
